Benepath review: leads, pricing and terms
Benepath runs its own insurance quote sites and ads and sells the shoppers who respond to agents as real-time web leads, live transfers and aged leads. Its focus is individual and group health and commercial insurance, with home, auto, life and Medicare leads as well.
Benepath now belongs to SmartFinancial. It checks consent and screens out fraud with TrustedForm, Jornaya, Whitepages and Blacklist Alliance, and agents can show their own name, logo and bio on the thank-you page a shopper sees after asking for a quote.

Our take
Benepath fits health, group health and commercial agents who want leads that come from one company's own quote sites and ads, with named consent and fraud tools behind them. Group health and commercial leads come as real-time web leads, live transfers or aged leads.
Most agents should start with a small order of real-time leads in one line and a few counties, then add live transfers once they know their cost per sale. Aged leads cost less and suit agents who mainly want names to work by mail or a follow-up campaign.
Pricing is quoted by line and territory, so request a written quote for your mix when you sign up.

Live transfers
A shopper calls the number on a Benepath page, answers a short automated question to confirm interest and is routed to you. A call counts as delivered once it connects to your number during the hours in your portal or order, and your order sets how many seconds a call must last before you pay for it. A longer threshold costs more per call.
Aged leads
Aged leads are real-time quote requests that weren't assigned when they came in. Most are 1 to 90 days old, and Benepath keeps older records it can sell at a deeper discount.
Other services
Benepath also sells clicks that send shoppers to your own site, billed per unique click. It also runs Search Plus, a managed ad campaign where you set the sources, budget and filters and Benepath runs the ads and routes calls to your number.
Getting started
- Request pricing for your line, territory and filters. Benepath quotes each order.
- Sign the insertion order and fund your account with a deposit. Benepath sets the amount, and it isn't refundable.
- Set your territory by state, county or ZIP code, your filters, your hours and, for calls, the billable call length.
- Leads arrive in the Benepath portal and by email or text, or post into your CRM if you send Benepath your API details.
- When your balance drops to $50, your card is charged the rebill amount you set in the portal.
Pricing
Benepath doesn't publish dollar prices. Its pricing page ranks the formats from aged leads (lowest) to shared, exclusive and calls (highest).
Your price depends on the line, order size, whether you buy a whole state or specific counties, your filters and, for calls, the billable call length. Discounts are available for overflow, large territories, high volume, extended hours and some states.
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Opening deposit | Set by Benepath, not refundable |
| Automatic rebill | When the balance falls to $50 or less |
| Card payments | 2.95% fee |
| Failed charge or chargeback | $25 |
| Inactivity | A monthly fee once a balance sits unused for 90 days |
Terms as of October 2026.

Sample leads and filters
Benepath publishes a sample lead for six of its seven lines, all but Medicare, and the fields change a lot from one line to the next. Every lead includes the shopper's name, phone, email and address.
Health leads

The health lead shows current coverage and expiration, then each applicant's relation, birthday, gender, height, weight, tobacco use, marital status, pre-existing conditions and their type, household size and annual income.
Group health leads

The group health lead names the business, its number of employees, the coverage start date, the plan type wanted and any added benefits.
Commercial leads

The commercial lead covers the business name and address, legal entity status, annual revenue and payroll, years in business and experience, full-time and part-time staff, partners, subcontractors, seasonal work, a description of the business and the coverage and amount wanted.
Home leads

The home lead adds the homeowner's birthday, marital status, education, occupation and credit rating, current coverage, the replacement cost, liability and deductible wanted, and details of the home from construction and roof to rooms and square footage.
Auto leads

The auto lead lists current coverage, the limits and deductibles wanted, and a block for each driver (license status, marital status, occupation, education, credit, DUI and SR-22) and each vehicle (year, make, model, VIN, use, annual miles and garaging).
Life leads

The life lead shows the coverage type and amount wanted and the applicant's birthday, gender, height, weight, tobacco use, pre-existing conditions, prescriptions, DUI, military service and credit rating.
Filters
Targeting works by state, county or ZIP code (a whole state costs less than selected counties), set hours and weekend delivery, and cap your order size. Health leads can be filtered by family size and demographics, group health by business size (two or more or five or more employees) and commercial by policy type, business size and industry.
Lead quality checks
Benepath says its leads come from its own advertising on search, social media, email, display, video and direct mail, not from outside lead sellers. Shoppers fill out a form or call a Benepath number.
Shoppers are checked against TCPA rules with TrustedForm and Jornaya, validated with Whitepages and screened for litigators and bots with Blacklist Alliance and Anura. Live transfers also pass a short automated interest check.
The terms don't allow robocalls (prerecorded outbound calls) to any Benepath lead, and leads come with the shopper's consent to be called where your order requires it.
Delivery and integrations
Leads arrive in real time, including weekends, in the Benepath portal and by email or text. Benepath can post them into your CRM if you send your API details, and it lists Salesforce, LeadsPedia, VanillaSoft and Ringy among its integrations. A lead counts as delivered once it loads in the portal, so test your CRM connection before you go live.
Lead returns
You can return a lead within 10 days of receiving it, and disconnected numbers and fake submissions get credited through the broker portal. Once a lead goes back you can't contact or use it. If you want to dispute a bill, do it within 5 days.
Contract and cancellation details
Your insertion order and Benepath's terms form the contract. To leave, send written notice and allow up to 15 business days for processing.
Any balance left on the account isn't refunded, though you can spend it on other Benepath products. If Benepath is the one ending the agreement, it credits your remaining balance back to you, minus anything you owe.
Pausing is allowed for up to 14 days, and you pay for leads already in your account before Benepath confirms the pause. After 14 days the account turns back on by itself. Disputes go to arbitration in Columbus, Ohio, under Ohio law.

Corrections
Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Benepath quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Benepath has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
