Insurance Virtual Assistants: Compare 15 VA Companies for Agencies

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 9, 2026

Insurance virtual assistant companies supply remote staff who do agency service work, from certificates and endorsements to renewals and client calls. Some place one dedicated assistant you direct, and others run a managed team that owns a workflow. Many assistants are unlicensed, and several vendors publish no licensing details, so plan to keep licensed tasks with your own staff.

We compared 15 companies on price and billing unit, where the staff work, licensing, dedicated or shared staffing and minimum term. A blank cell means the vendor doesn't publish that fact. Hourly and monthly prices sit in one column, so convert before you compare: $9 an hour at 40 hours a week is about $1,560 a month.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Can a virtual assistant do licensed work?

Only if the assistant holds the right license for your state and line, and most don't. Agree in writing which tasks stay with your licensed staff, such as advice, quoting with a recommendation and binding.

  • How are assistants priced?

Some vendors charge by the hour and others by the month for a full-time assistant. An hourly rate of $9 at 40 hours a week comes to about $1,560 a month. A few price by module or workflow, and many quote only after a call.

  • Who employs the assistant?

Usually the vendor or a partner employer, which handles payroll and local law. Ask before you sign, because it decides who you pay and who carries the risk.

  • What happens when the assistant is out?

Some vendors supply a trained backup, and others leave the gap to you. Ask how fast cover starts and whether you pay for it.

  • Can I hire the assistant directly later?

Many contracts bar it for a set time or charge a buyout fee. Read the non-solicitation clause first.

  • How do vendors protect client data?

Look for managed devices, multi-factor login and access you control in your own systems. A SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report is stronger proof than a list of controls.

  • What do SOC 1, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 mean?

SOC 2 is an outside audit of a company's data controls, and SOC 1 covers controls over financial reporting. Type II covers a period of months, while Type I checks one point in time. ISO 27001 is a certificate for how a company manages security, and a badge on a website is not the report itself.

Frequently asked questions

How much do virtual assistant companies cost?

Five of the 15 virtual assistant companies on this page publish prices: InsBOSS, Agency VA, Staff Boom, Elevate Teams and Agency Aid. Starting prices per assistant per month run from $1,100 to $2,500 across the three that publish one. The cost guide has every published price.

How is this list ordered?

We start from a default order built on trust factors, which are how many buyer facts the vendor publishes, whether its identity is verified, how openly it shows prices, how long it has been in business and an editorial review. Affiliate and paid links play no part, and a higher spot does not mean a better product. Read how we order vendors.

How we researched this. We based this page on each vendor's published pricing where available, terms and product pages, reviewed in October 2026, together with our team's experience working with insurance agents and agency owners since 2008.
