NextCommission review: pricing, statement matching and producer pay
NextCommission matches carrier payments to your cases, shows what is unpaid and splits commission down to every sub-agent. It sends each sub-agent a branded PDF statement.
It is built for benefits and life agencies and GAs. Buy it alone as NextCommission Solo, or as an add-on to the NextAgency agency system.

Our take
NextCommission fits a benefits or life agency that pays sub-agents and wants clean statements to send them. Solo covers five users for $133.33 a month billed yearly, and agencies already on NextAgency add it for $100.
The limit to know first is how it finds short pay. You enter the commission you expect for each policy, since it doesn't calculate it from carrier rate schedules.
Pros
- Published prices and a 30-day trial
- Unlimited sub-agent levels with dated splits
- Branded PDF statements and sub-agent logins
- Staff can key your statements for you
- Benefits system connections and group split inheritance
Cons
- Excel is the only file type it imports
- Expected pay is entered, not calculated
- No P&C workflow
- No chargeback or advance tracking
- Prepaid fees aren't refunded

Good to know before you buy
- The paid plan starts on its own when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
- A yearly plan commits you for the full year.
- NextAgency is for life, health and benefits agencies, not P&C.
- Each extra block of five Solo seats costs the same as the first, and producers who only receive statements don't take a seat.

Statement intake
- File types
- Excel
- How statements arrive
- Upload them, key them in or copy last month's statement
- Carrier downloads
- CarrierConnect, a separate partner, pulls statements from participating group benefits carriers into your import queue
- Mapping
- Map each carrier's columns once and reuse the map
Matching and missing payments
- Matches on
- Policy or group number, client, carrier, product and premium
- Lines it can't match
- You fix them before the import finishes, and it can create clients and policies as it goes
- Duplicates
- A line is flagged only when every key field matches an earlier one. Skip it or keep it for a corrected statement
How it finds missing pay
You store the commission you expect and how often it pays. Unpaid Commission, Variance to Expected and Last Paid reports then show what is missing or short.
What you do next
Your staff follow up with the carrier. Posting a statement locks its lines, and a Not Posted filter works as a month-end checklist.
Expected amounts are entered, not calculated from carrier rate schedules.
Splits, overrides and hierarchy
Split types
- Percent of commission
- Per employee per month (PEPM)
- Flat dollar
- Overrides (pay to an upline on a downline's sale), fees and bonuses as their own pay types
- Caps by payment, month, year, plan year or lifetime
Hierarchy
Sub-agent levels have no limit. A split can pay a sub-agent or a business manager, and a group's split can pass down to its employees and dependents.
Splits only share out commission that has arrived. Each split has start and end dates, and percent splits on the same coverage can't pass 100%.
Producer statements and pay
- Statements
- Branded PDFs with each sub-agent's cases, carriers, splits and total, bundled in a ZIP file
- Producer portal
- External users see their own statements and chosen case details
- Paying producers
- You pay them. NextCommission produces reports and statements
Done-for-you service
- What staff do
- Take 44 staff key your uploaded statements into NextCommission
- What you do
- Upload statements securely and approve the entries
- Price
- About $100 a month, plus $5 a statement and $0.08 a line

Corrections
Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan NextCommission quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where NextCommission has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
