Core Commissions review: pricing, statement matching and producer pay

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 9, 2026

Core Commissions is a rules engine that turns carrier statements and sales data into producer pay. It handles splits, overrides, advances against pay and chargebacks, audits the results and sends each producer a statement.

It sells to many industries, with an insurance workflow for agencies, IMOs, FMOs and benefits brokers. Prices are per payee and billed yearly, with a 15-payee minimum.

Our take

Core Commissions fits an agency or upline with 15 or more people to pay and pay plans too complex for a spreadsheet. Launch, from $20 a payee a month, is the first plan that calculates pay, and Enterprise adds integrations and unlimited rules.

Entry cost is the main hurdle. Quick Start ($500) comes first, and a full year is billed up front, so 15 payees on Launch start at $3,600 a year.

Pros

  • Rules handle splits, overrides, advances against pay, tiers and chargebacks
  • Every result traces back to its data and steps
  • Branded producer portal with a dispute queue
  • Managed Services for just the tasks you choose
  • Reads PDF and text statements as well as Excel

Cons

  • 15-payee minimum and yearly billing up front
  • Required $500 Quick Start before you subscribe
  • Not built only for insurance
  • Integrations need Enterprise and cost extra
  • Larger rollouts take weeks to months

Getting started

  1. Book a demo

See the rules engine on a sample of your pay plans.

  2. Buy Quick Start

For $500, Core builds your rules, reports and dashboards for up to 10 hours and trains your team.

  3. Use it for 30 days

Quick Start works as a paid trial. Run your own data through it, with no need to subscribe afterward.

  4. Subscribe and go live

Pick a plan for a year. A plan fed by 2 or 3 spreadsheets or systems, with 10 to 12 pay rules, usually takes about two weeks.

Support runs through a knowledge base, an AI assistant, a forum, trouble tickets, phone and email. Larger rollouts take a few weeks to a few months.

Statement intake

File types
Excel, CSV, PDF and text
How statements arrive
Upload them. Enterprise can pull scheduled feeds by API, SFTP or web connector
Carrier layouts
Each statement is reshaped into one standard format on import
Checks
Each data source is checked for missing data before a pay period runs

On Managed Services, you send statements to Core and its staff convert them, including PDFs and scans.

Matching and missing payments

Assigning lines
Rules assign each policy to the writing agent, any override recipients and the right payout
Lines it can't match
Lines with no matching policy or producer go to a cleanup screen where you merge, fix and reassign them in bulk

How it finds missing pay

Audits flag missing data before you run a pay period. Standard reports compare what each carrier paid with what you should have received.

What you do next

Reports show underpayments by carrier, so you can take them up with each one.

Splits, overrides and hierarchy

Pay rules it handles

  • Splits at different rates by role
  • New business and renewal rates
  • Hierarchy overrides
  • Team pools and tiered rates
  • Bonuses, higher rates past a target and one-off sales bonuses
  • Floors and ceilings

Overrides and hierarchy

An override pays a manager on a downline's sale. Producers sit in their manager's downline, and rules set the override for each level. Several management levels can run in the same pay cycle.

Every rate change is logged with dates, along with each producer's role, territory and manager over time.

Advances, chargebacks and renewals

Advances
Tracks draws, which is pay advanced before it is earned, whether recoverable or not and when each is paid back
Chargebacks
A rule applies the chargeback and carries it into later pay runs
Renewals
Rules set renewal rates. Residual pay ends when its period is up
Bonuses
Bonuses, higher rates past a target and one-off payments, each as a rule

Producer statements and pay

Statements
Summary and detail statements for every payee in one click, emailed in bulk
Producer portal

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Core Commissions quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Core Commissions has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
