QuoteWizard vs Hometown Quotes: leads, pricing and terms compared

Updated

Both sell real-time shared and exclusive leads in personal lines, health and life, plus live transfers. QuoteWizard fits agents who want detailed filters priced into each package, with known starting prices for auto, home and renters.

Hometown Quotes fits agents who want filters that don't raise the price and, for captive agents with Allstate, Nationwide, COUNTRY Financial, State Farm or Farmers, carrier programs with custom pricing. Neither requires a long-term contract.

Products and getting started

QuoteWizard

  1. Fill out the join form on the agent site and choose your lines.
  2. Pick packages and filters with a sales rep, along with your territory and daily or weekly caps.
  3. Set the amount charged to your card. The card is charged again once your balance falls under what a single lead costs. You can set a cash cap to stop automatic charges.
  4. Leads arrive in the QuoteWizard dashboard and by email, and can post into your CRM, rater or dialer.
  5. Pause when you need to. Standard accounts get 45 vacation days a year, and higher-volume accounts get more.

Hometown Quotes

  1. Sign up and choose your lines, filters, delivery hours and territory.
  2. Fund a prepaid deposit. The leads you receive are paid out of it.
  3. A shopper asks for a quote and within seconds the lead is in your Hometown Quotes portal. It can also be sent by email or text, or straight into your CRM, rater or dialer.
  4. When the balance falls to $50 your card gets charged again automatically.

Price and cost to start

QuoteWizard lists starting prices like $9.38 for a preferred homeowner auto lead, but every filter you stack on raises the cost. Hometown Quotes posts no prices, quotes by line and risk class and charges nothing for filters. Captive agents with Allstate, Nationwide or State Farm can also get up to $250 in bonus bucks through Hometown Quotes' carrier programs.

Shared or exclusive

Both cap a shared lead at four agents, though Hometown Quotes averages about two buyers while QuoteWizard's averages run from about one on renters to about three on health. Hometown Quotes offers exclusive leads in all five of its lines, and its live transfers cover life as well as auto and home. QuoteWizard has no exclusive Medicare option, and its WizardCalls stick to auto and home.

Lead returns

QuoteWizard gives you 10 days and lets you return up to 25% of your leads, but it doesn't publish the reasons it accepts. Hometown Quotes is the reverse, listing reasons such as a recycled lead, a non-consumer or an incentivized shopper while publishing no deadline or cap. Either way the remedy is a credit to your account.

Contract and cancellation

Neither QuoteWizard nor Hometown Quotes asks for a long-term contract. QuoteWizard says more about staying flexible, with pay-as-you-go billing, a cash cap on card charges and up to 45 pause days a year on standard accounts. Hometown Quotes doesn't publish how to cancel, how pauses work or what happens to money left in your account.

Delivery and integrations

Both send leads in real time to their own portal and can pass them on by email or text or into a CRM, rater or dialer. Hometown Quotes names 24 systems it connects to and says leads arrive within seconds. QuoteWizard's dashboard also handles caps, territories and credit requests.

Lead quality checks

Hometown Quotes runs leads past independent services that check phones, emails and recycled leads, and partner leads must carry Jornaya LeadiD and TrustedForm certificates. QuoteWizard uses those two tools on its own form and adds its own validation step plus call screening. Hometown Quotes casts a wider net for traffic, including owned call centers, display ads and affiliate sellers, while QuoteWizard leans on search engines.
