Certificate Hero review: pricing, certificates and AMS connections
Certificate Hero is certificate of insurance software for commercial insurance brokers. Staff build ACORD certificates in a live form editor that fills in policies and limits from the agency management system, and insureds can issue their own certificates from templates the agency approves.
What sets it apart is the contract step. Staff upload a contract or paste an insurance clause, AI pulls out the insurance requirements and the editor compares them with the coverage the insured carries.

Our take
Certificate Hero fits commercial brokers whose service teams issue many certificates against contracts and run big renewal batches. It works from Applied Epic, AMS360 or Sagitta data, so certificates pick up policy changes on the next sync. Pricing is by quote, so start with a demo.
Certificate Hero only issues. It doesn't track certificates your clients collect from their vendors.
Pros
- Staff-built certificates cannot show limits higher than the AMS holds, and coverage the insured lacks stays off the form
- AI reads uploaded contracts and flags lines of business that fall short of the requirements
- Staff can ask questions about a contract in a chat window while building the certificate
- One blanket endorsement form fills in each insured's details when attached
- Bulk revisions and step-by-step renewals handle large certificate batches
- Agencies choose which templates and holder changes each insured user gets
Cons
- Pricing is a custom quote
- Endorsements are not pulled from the AMS and have to be uploaded to the library
- No holder-side tracking of certificates from vendors or subcontractors

Issuing certificates
- Who issues
- Agency staff in a live ACORD form editor, and insureds on the Insured Site
- Policy data
- Policies, coverages and limits fill in from the AMS. Line of business profiles set how each policy shows on the form
- Bulk and renewals
- Bulk jobs revise, renew, print or email many certificates at once, and several can run together
- Delivery
- Email with agency or user templates, print or download. One download holds up to 500 certificates
The editor can show four windows side by side: the requirements, the form, the contract and other documents. Quick Issue starts a certificate from a saved template in one step.
ACORD forms and policy data

| Form | What it is |
|---|---|
| ACORD 25 | Certificate of liability insurance |
| ACORD 27 | Evidence of property insurance, with several locations |
| ACORD 28 | Evidence of commercial property insurance, with several locations |
| ACORD 101 | Additional remarks schedule, saved as reusable text blocks |
Certificate Hero added the latest ACORD 25 in March 2026. An evidence of property certificate covers one property at a time.
Policy data comes from the AMS every 4 hours. Staff can press Insured Sync to pull one insured's changes right away.
Self-service for insureds and holders
- Who uses it
- Insureds, on the agency's Insured Site
- What they can change
- They issue from the COI templates the agency allows. Permissions decide whether they can add or edit holders
- Controls
- Admins put insured users in permission groups, such as a template-only group, and set safeguards
Contract requirements and endorsements
- Contract reading
- Upload a contract or paste its insurance clause. AI finds the clause in searchable and scanned files
- What it checks
- Coverage, limits and endorsements against the insured's AMS coverage. A line that falls short is outlined in red
- Guardrails
- A staff-built certificate can't show limits higher than the AMS holds, and coverage the insured lacks stays off
- Endorsements
- Upload blanket endorsement forms once and tag them, so each insured's details fill in. They aren't pulled from the AMS
- Who decides
- Agency staff choose the endorsements and review the certificate before it goes out
Staff can also ask questions about the contract in a chat window. Quick Finds jump to common items such as additional insured status (a party added to the policy) or a carrier's AM Best rating.
Renewals and policy changes
Renewals run step by step. Lines that changed in the AMS show a red X, and staff settle each one before bulk renewals reissue certificates to holders.
A shared policy passes AMS updates to every insured linked to it.

Corrections
Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Certificate Hero quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Certificate Hero has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
