Applied Epic review: pricing, downloads and accounting

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 9, 2026

Applied Epic is an agency management system for mid-size and large independent agencies. It holds clients, policies, accounting and carrier downloads, and its CRM side tracks new business, renewals and email campaigns.

Applied quotes each agency after a demo, and every sale comes with an implementation and data conversion project.

Our take

Applied Epic suits independent agencies large enough to run sales, service and accounting in one system, across personal, commercial and benefits books. Carrier downloads keep its policy records current, so renewals and producer reports work from the real book.

Buying it is a project. Expect a quote, a statement of work and months of data cleanup, testing and training before you go live.

Smaller agencies often find it more system than they need.

Pros

  • Carrier downloads of policies, claims and commissions
  • One record for clients, policies, deals and accounting
  • Applied Recon matches statements and posts to the ledger
  • Book Builder finds coverage gaps in a commercial book
  • Client portal with ID cards, certificates and bill pay

Cons

  • No published prices or free trial
  • Implementation can take most of a year
  • Texting is a separate subscription
  • A lot of system for a small agency

Email, calling and texting

Email

Texting

Integrated Texting is its own subscription. It runs on Twilio, a texting service, and saves each conversation as an Epic activity.

Calling

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Applied Epic quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Applied Epic has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
