Eclipse review: pricing, downloads and accounting

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 4, 2026

Eclipse is a Windows agency management system from North American Software Associates for independent P&C agencies. It holds customers, policies, carrier downloads, ACORD forms and agency accounting, with an optional general ledger.

It fits small and mid-size agencies, including owners who run several agencies in one database. The vendor prices it per user and says there is no long-term contract. It runs on your own server or hosted.

Our take

Eclipse suits a small or mid-size P&C agency that wants a plain Windows system, a trainer of its own and no long-term contract, per the vendor. Owners with more than one agency can keep them in one database with separate books and security.

Decide how you want your books kept. Every plan does agency bill and commissions, but the general ledger needs Full Accounting or QuickBooks. The software is Windows only, so plan on your own server or the vendor's hosted version.

Pros

  • No long-term contract, per the vendor
  • A dedicated trainer through 60 to 90 days of onboarding
  • Daily downloads from a long carrier list
  • Several agencies in one database
  • Commission income set to cash or accrual by carrier
  • Premium increase alerts at renewal

Cons

  • No published prices
  • Windows only, on your server or a hosted desktop
  • No staff or client app of its own
  • General ledger needs Full Accounting or QuickBooks
  • No written terms published

Good to know before you buy

  • Your computers may need an upgrade to meet Eclipse's hardware needs.
  • Local installs under 15 users run on SQL Server Express, which caps each database at 10 GB.
  • The vendor doesn't support your own backup system.

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Eclipse quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Eclipse has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
