Constant Contact Email Marketing review: pricing, automations and AMS connections for agents

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 4, 2026

Constant Contact is a newsletter and email automation tool for small businesses, with live phone and chat help on every plan. Birthday and anniversary emails work on any plan, but a renewal reminder from your own date field needs Premium.

It fits an agency that sends a regular newsletter and writes its own content. Contacts come in by import or through Zapier, which also links EZLynx.

Our take

Constant Contact is easy to learn, and the phone support helps an office without a marketing person. For a monthly newsletter Lite or Standard does the job.

Renewal reminders are the sticking point. Only Premium can trigger on a custom date, so an agency that wants them pays the top price.

Watch the contact count as well. You pay for the peak count in each period, and deleting contacts won't bring it down.

Pros

  • Live phone and chat help on every plan
  • Birthday and anniversary emails on every plan
  • Unsubscribed contacts can't be added back by mistake
  • 30-day refund on a new base plan
  • Text quiet hours applied for you

Cons

  • Renewal date triggers need Premium
  • No insurance content or compliance review
  • No AMS connection, and Zapier costs extra
  • Contact counts covered by each tier aren't published
  • Deleting contacts doesn't lower your bill that period

Starting prices as of October 2026, for the lowest contact tier. Constant Contact doesn't publish how many contacts that tier covers. Constant Contact Teams, which runs five or more accounts from one place, is quoted.

What counts as a contact

Each contact with an email address and permission to email, plus bounced contacts you haven't removed. You pay for the highest count in the billing period, and deleting contacts doesn't lower it.

Good to know before you buy

  • Sends are measured against the top of your tier, so 1,500 contacts in a tier capped at 2,500 get 25,000 sends on Lite.
  • Scheduled sends over your allowance still go out, at $0.002 each.
  • Welcome emails and automated series don't count toward the allowance.
  • Inbox previews cost $10 a month on any plan.
  • Zapier connections carry an extra charge.
  • The terms ban Social Security, driver's license and financial account numbers in the account.

AMS and CRM connections

No agency system connects directly. EZLynx links through Zapier, and any other AMS needs a file import.

Reporting

What it tracks

  • Reach and engagement on every plan
  • Who opened and clicked, from Standard
  • Click heat maps on Premium
  • Revenue reports on Premium

Apple Mail can load emails without the reader opening them, so open counts run high. Clicks are a better measure.

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Constant Contact Email Marketing quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Constant Contact Email Marketing has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
