Banyan Theory review for insurance agencies: website pricing, ownership and quote forms

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 4, 2026

Banyan Theory runs two website platforms for independent agencies, LightRail and Webtricity. New buyers go to Webtricity, where you edit an insurance template yourself or pay Webtricity to build it.

Plans run $49 to $199 a month per site. There is no setup fee if you build it yourself, and Design+Build adds a one-time $599 to $1,999.

Our take

Banyan Theory sells under the Webtricity name. Webtricity is a template platform with a choice: build it yourself for nothing up front, or pay once for Design+Build. Every plan comes with 70+ prewritten insurance pages.

It suits a cost-minded independent agency that wants month-to-month billing. PRO is the plan to look at if leads should reach AgencyZoom, Applied Epic or HawkSoft.

What you give up is portability. The site can't leave Webtricity hosting, and the prewritten pages stay behind.

Pros

  • No setup fee if you build it yourself
  • Monthly billing with no long commitment
  • 70+ prewritten insurance pages on every plan
  • PRO sends leads to AgencyZoom and the Applied Epic Leads Inbox
  • Alert emails carry a login link instead of client details
  • Rater embeds from MIX up

Cons

  • Sites can't move off Webtricity hosting
  • No refunds, even on yearly payments
  • No promise to back up your data
  • Powered By Webtricity link must stay in the footer
  • HawkSoft needs a manual file download
  • AMS and CRM connections need PRO or VIP

Build and launch

  1. Pick a template and plan

Start building yourself, or add Design+Build now or later.

  2. Add your details

Brand colors, logo, staff, photos and any services you use. With Design+Build, a project call covers this and Webtricity pulls in your old site's content.

  3. Review and edit

Check the site and make changes before launch.

  4. Go live

You update your DNS with help from Webtricity. Design+Build also submits the site to Google Search Console and tests it for speed and accessibility.

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Banyan Theory quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Banyan Theory has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
