  2. Choose your lines and packages, then target by state, county, ZIP code and radius or area code, and add any filters.
  3. Set daily, weekly or monthly volume, a budget limit or hourly and daily call limits.
  4. Leads arrive by email, text, your online account or your CRM or rater.
  5. Your card is charged on the 1st and 16th, or sooner if you reach your credit limit, for leads already delivered.

EverQuote

  1. Sign up for EverQuote Pro. Captive agents can buy for one carrier and independent agents for one agency.
  2. Choose your lead types, ZIP codes, days and hours and a daily cap.
  3. Fund a prepaid balance by card. For data leads your card is charged the amount you chose once the balance falls to $25. For live transfers the threshold is $100.
  4. Leads arrive in EverQuote Pro and by email, or post into your lead system. Calls ring the number you choose.
  5. Try to reach each lead within three hours, which the terms ask of every agent.

Price and cost to start

Neither AWL nor EverQuote posts a price list, so real numbers only come once a rep quotes your territory. Where they part ways is cash flow. AWL takes no deposit and charges your card on the 1st and 16th for leads already sent, while EverQuote works from a balance you fund in advance and tops it up by card when data funds dip to $25 or call funds to $100.

Shared or exclusive

EverQuote limits a shared lead to three agents with one per carrier and puts the average at 1.7, while AWL's carrier-exclusive web leads reach 2 to 4 agents on average. EverQuote is the only one with exclusive web leads, for auto alone, and they cost more and have to be bought alongside shared ones. A live transfer from either company is yours alone.

Lead returns

EverQuote allows 30 days to ask for a credit against AWL's 10, but automatic credits stop at 20% of a month's leads and a returned lead is off limits for calling. AWL doesn't publish a cap and spells out the reasons it accepts. Neither pays cash, and on calls EverQuote lets you reject a transfer within 120 seconds while AWL reviews a bad one after the fact.

Full return terms: AWL and EverQuote.

Contract and cancellation

You can walk away from either, since AWL and EverQuote both skip minimum terms. EverQuote refunds what's left in your balance when you cancel, unless the money is a first deposit it matched with credit, and admins can pause whenever they like. AWL holds none of your money ahead of time, and its optional monthly Service Plan adds pauses of up to 10 days.

Full contract terms: AWL and EverQuote.

Delivery and integrations

EverQuote drops data leads into its EverQuote Pro portal within seconds of the quote request, emails you each one and can post them to your lead system, though it doesn't list which systems. AWL offers more routes, including text and your rater or quoting engine, and sends leads on weekends too. Calls from both ring straight through to your phone.

Lead quality checks

AWL draws most shoppers to its own sites, like NetQuote, and describes its checks, from screening fake names and emails to matching ZIP codes with the phone prefix and IP address. EverQuote blends its own sites with a Verified Partner Network and names no validation steps, but sells only real-time leads and keeps form data for TCPA proof. Both get consent that covers automated contact even for numbers on the Do Not Call list.
