  1. Send an inquiry

Give your NPN, the states you are licensed in and the lines you sell.

  2. Complete the online application

Benefits Life says onboarding is often done the same day.

  3. Get appointed

New carrier appointments typically take 3 to 7 business days.

Organization model
Open contracting. Agencies keep their own hierarchy and brand

Benefits Life is open contracting. Agents contract directly, or producers contract through an agency that keeps its hierarchy and brand under Benefits Life. The chain is agent, then any agency, then Benefits Life, then the carrier.

Benefits Life markets agency override structures for downline builders, while recruiting is optional and percentages are not published. Benefits Life says it helps agents request a release from a current FMO, provides transition coaching and templates, then handles carrier appointments. Its new agent page includes agents leaving a captive environment.

How you get paid

Overrides
Benefits Life keeps carrier overrides, and they do not reduce your commission
Bonuses and trips
50% back on approved Medicare marketing for direct agents, and 50% of eligible Regus meeting space

Agents almost always get their commission from the carrier itself, at the street-level rate that carrier publishes. If the carrier pays through the agency, Benefits Life hands full agent compensation on to the agent. Benefits Life says it provides direct carrier appointments, but it does not publish whether it holds each carrier contract directly with the carrier or through another marketing organization.

Carrier commission schedules are shared after contracting and on request.

Benefits Life keeps the overrides and administrative pay carriers send it, and none of that reduces your street-level commission. Direct agents get 50% reimbursement of approved Medicare marketing spend. A typical sub-agency split is 25% Benefits Life, 25% agency and 50% producer.

Separately, Benefits Life covers 50% of eligible Regus meeting-space bookings.

Leaving

Release policy
Open release on request, with no waiting period, no cause requirement and a $0 fee. Usually a few business days
Renewal vesting
From day one
Debt when you leave
Return unused lead account advances before the release is final

Benefits Life says it typically processes its release within a few business days, while carrier paperwork follows each carrier's timeline. Released agents can come back without a cooling-off period.

Carrier rules still apply. Most major Medicare carriers freeze hierarchy changes from September 1 through December 31, so a release requested then generally starts January 1. A carrier hierarchy transfer can run as long as about 90 days.

Benefits Life imposes no non-compete or non-solicit. An agency keeps its hierarchy and remains the direct upline for its agents. Benefits Life says it reconciles carrier balances it is responsible for before finalizing a release.

Advances, chargebacks and debt

Chargebacks
Set by Medicare rules and each carrier

Chargebacks come from Medicare rules and each carrier.

Before a release is final, Benefits Life reconciles carrier balances it is responsible for, and money it advanced to a lead account must be returned.

Organic transfers and referrals also come through PlanMatch, MedicareAgents.com and a UCHealth channel in Colorado. Leads are optional.

AgentHive and AskRamona come with contracting at no direct fee, as does a MedicareAgents.com premium listing. No recurring back office, CRM or membership fee schedule is published.

Training and production

Production minimums
None tied to keeping your renewals

Training includes live onboarding, AEP preparation, biweekly agent training and AgentHive videos with one-on-one guidance.

No production minimum is tied to keeping renewals. Benefits Life says agency override levels depend on production and volume, but it does not publish a rule for retaining or dropping an individual contract level.

Contracting, certifications and E&O

E&O required
Yes, active and in good standing

You contract with Benefits Life, Inc. by sending an inquiry with your NPN, states and lines, then completing an online application. Benefits Life says onboarding is often same day and new carrier appointments typically take 3 to 7 business days. You need an active license and E&O coverage in good standing.

Medicare Advantage and Part D require annual training on fraud, waste and abuse as well as Medicare, with AHIP or NABIP where the carrier accepts it.

Ownership and channel

It does not buy agent books or ask agents for equity.

Medicare comp context

CMS caps what Medicare Advantage and Part D plans may pay agents each plan year, and your real pay comes from your carrier contract and upline (CMS compensation limits (opens in a new tab)).

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Benefits Life quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Benefits Life has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
