ExamFX review: CE courses, state approvals and costs for agents
ExamFX sells online pre-licensing and exam prep for new agents and a CE library for licensed ones. The library gives you every CE course for your state for a year at one price.
Pre-licensing covers all 50 states and DC, and CE courses vary by state. Agencies and IMOs get free manager tracking and quoted group prices.

Our take
For CE, the yearly state library is the draw. For $49.95 you get every course in your state's catalog, so you can pick topics instead of a fixed package.
New agents get a pass guarantee that refunds the package, if they hit 80 percent on the readiness exam first.
Check the gaps before you buy. New York agents need another provider for some required hours, and so do Texas agents who need the 8-hour annuity course.
Pros
- Every CE course in a state for one yearly price
- Unlimited certificate exam retakes
- Pass guarantee that refunds the whole package
- Free manager tracking for agencies and IMOs
- Spanish pre-licensing in six states
Cons
- Missing some required New York and Texas courses
- California and Texas add a reporting fee per credit hour
- Pre-licensing access lasts only 60 days
- Group prices by quote only

Required topics
| Topic | What ExamFX offers |
|---|---|
| Ethics | A 3-hour California course with the anti-fraud hour. In Texas the anti-money laundering course counts as ethics |
| Annuity best interest | 4-hour courses in Florida and Texas. Not the 8-hour Texas course that follows |
| Long-term care | 8 hours in California, and 8 hours plus a 4-hour refresher in Florida and Texas |
| Anti-money laundering | 3-hour courses in New York and Texas |
| Flood | Courses in the state catalogs |
New York agents need another provider for the required 1-hour law, ethics and bias courses. The state health department runs New York long-term care partnership training. Florida's long-term care courses don't meet its partnership rule.

Corrections
Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan ExamFX quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where ExamFX has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
