Agency Matrix review: pricing, downloads and accounting

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 4, 2026

Agency Matrix is Zywave's browser-based agency management system for personal lines agencies, especially those writing non-standard auto. It holds clients, households, policies, x-dates, documents and agency accounting, with texting and a CRM side for prospects.

It fits agencies with 1 to 50 employees, from one office to several. Zywave quotes it after a demo on two plans, and its TurboRater sends quotes and sold policies straight into the client record.

Our take

Agency Matrix suits a personal lines shop that lives on payments, sweeps (premium a carrier drafts from your bank account) and renewals, such as a non-standard auto agency taking premium at the counter. Paired with TurboRater, a sold quote lands in the client file without retyping.

Two things to weigh. The general ledger and custom permissions sit on the higher Performance plan, so price both plans. The contract renews on its own with no way to cancel early, so read the renewal date before you sign.

Pros

  • TurboRater quotes and sold policies flow into the client file
  • Sweep tracking and reconciliation on both plans
  • Two-way texting saved to the client record
  • Client portal for policies, ID cards and certificates
  • Unlimited document storage
  • Runs in a browser with nothing to install

Cons

  • No published prices
  • General ledger only on the Performance plan
  • TEAM-UP and AL3 downloads need a manual upload
  • No public API. Custom work needs a statement of work
  • Auto-renews, with no cap on renewal increases

Getting started

  1. Book a demo

Zywave shows the system and quotes a plan and a one-time setup fee.

  2. Sign the order

The services fee is due at signing. Ask your current vendor for a full database backup now.

  3. Convert your data

One import from a backup of your old system, one AL3 file per carrier or a CSV. Which fields carry over depends on your old vendor.

  4. Check it in a test system

You review the converted data before it loads into your live system.

  5. Set up and train

The team sets up users, offices, downloads, commissions and the TurboRater bridge, with one-on-one training.

Zywave plans 10 to 12 weeks. Extra imports, imports over 400 GB, fields outside the data template and fixes asked for more than 60 days after the import cost extra.

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Agency Matrix quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Agency Matrix has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
