Prowlr review for insurance agents: data, pricing and permitted use

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 9, 2026

Prowlr scores businesses from public records and tells you why each one may be ready to buy. Insurance is one of several markets it covers.

Most renewal dates assume a 12-month term from the bind date. Plans start at $200 a month with credits.

Best for
Tech-minded commercial agencies that want scored triggers sent to their own tools by API
Data type
Public records turned into scored triggers
Renewal date
Certificate dates where found. Otherwise assumed 12 months from the bind date
Lines
Commercial P&C
Price
$200 a month, or $167 a month billed yearly
Delivery
CSV and an API. An AI assistant link (MCP) and HubSpot on Pro
Trial or sample
14-day trial with 200 credits on the pricing page, card required. Insurance access starts with a build request

Our take

Prowlr suits an agency that wants scored triggers sent to its own tools by API. Every score links back to its source so you can check it.

It is a general engine with insurance added, and most dates are estimates. With no posted terms, get the license in writing first.

Pros

  • Each score shows its reasons and source
  • REST API on every paid plan. MCP on Pro and up
  • A 14-day trial on its pricing page
  • The pricing page says cancel any time

Cons

  • Most renewal dates assume a 12-month term
  • No public terms of service
  • No state list for insurance

Data sources and dates

SourceWhat it gives you
FMCSA insurance filingsTrucking insurers and policy start dates
ACORD 24 and 25 certificatesThe policy expiration date when one is printed
State business registriesNewly formed businesses
NAIC state licensing systemProducer and company license checks
SERFF rate filingsCarrier rate changes by state and line
Renewal date
A month and day each year, rebuilt from public records
How it's built
Uses a printed certificate expiration when there is one. Otherwise it counts 12 months from the original bind date

Most dates are worked out, not read. A trucking filing shows when a policy started, not when it ends. Prowlr assumes a 12-month term, so short or mid-term policies will be off.

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Prowlr quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Prowlr has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
