Victor review for retail agents: programs, access and binding authority
Victor, owned by Marsh, is a managing general underwriter. That works like an MGA, with a carrier's authority to underwrite and bind. It writes professional liability, builders risk, real estate E&O, catastrophe property, flood, cyber and several niche programs.
It suits agencies with design firms, builders or realtors as clients. Small accounts in those lines quote, bind and issue online in V², its online platform.
- Best for
- Agencies writing architects and engineers, builders risk, real estate E&O, coastal property, flood or cyber
- Type
- MGA owned by Marsh, with a wholesale desk
- Lines
- Professional liability, builders risk, contractors, auto dealers, logging, kidnap and ransom, flood, catastrophe property and cyber
- Access
- Register for a V² account or contact your state business development manager. ICAT, its catastrophe property unit, appoints separately
- Authority
- V² quotes, binds and issues small professional, builders risk and real estate E&O online. ICAT binds online
- States
- By program. Design professionals and real estate E&O are admitted in every state
Our take
Victor is a program shop more than a general wholesaler. Its strength is professional liability for architects, engineers and real estate pros, plus builders risk on Berkshire Hathaway paper.
It fits agencies that want those lines bound online from a short application. ICAT adds coastal homes and earthquake, and ProWriters compares cyber quotes side by side.
Each program has its own route. V², ICAT, ProWriters and Victor Flood each need their own login, and other programs still go by email.

Quote and bind authority
"Takes your submission" means you send the risk to the firm, and "Underwrites" means its own staff set the terms. Binds "In house" means the firm commits the carrier on its own, with no second sign-off. Where a cell is blank, the firm publishes nothing on that step.

Corrections
Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Victor quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Victor has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
