Jencap review for retail agents: programs, access and binding authority

By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 9, 2026

Jencap handles hard-to-place business for retail agents in three ways: brokerage, its own binding authority (the carriers' permission to commit coverage for them) and more than 30 exclusive programs. Its underwriters bind small business property, casualty and transportation for the carriers.

It suits agencies of any size, new ones included. You fill in an online form and get a producer number if Jencap approves you.

Our take

Jencap is a national wholesaler with 49 offices and, by its count, more than 20,000 agency partners. Brokers work in practices such as casualty, environmental, transportation and workers comp.

It fits an agency that wants one firm for open-market brokerage, quick small business binders and niche programs. The programs lean toward construction, from luxury home builders to EIFS and electrical contractors.

Much of the fine print isn't public. Commission, billing and surplus lines filing terms come only after you're appointed.

Pros

  • Welcomes new agencies
  • Small business binders from Jencap underwriters
  • More than 30 exclusive programs, many for contractors
  • Premium finance with no agency liability for nonpayment
  • USLI quick quotes through every office

Cons

  • Billing and commission terms aren't published
  • Program details and carriers vary by program
  • No single main phone number
  • Agents never get their own binding authority

"Takes your submission" means you send the risk to the firm. Binds "In house" means the firm commits the carrier on its own, with no second sign-off. Where a cell is blank, the firm publishes nothing on that step.

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan Jencap quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where Jencap has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
