By the IAT editorial team | Updated October 9, 2026

HealthSherpa for Agents lets you quote ACA plans, run the subsidy application and enroll clients without going to HealthCare.gov. It also handles changes after enrollment and gives you a branded page where clients can enroll themselves.

It's free. Carriers pay HealthSherpa, so you only need your NPN, state license and Marketplace registration to sign up.

Our take

HealthSherpa fits an ACA agent or agency that enrolls in HealthCare.gov states and Georgia. Quoting, the subsidy application, enrollment and later changes all stay on one screen.

You pay nothing, and the client stays yours on a standard account. Agencies get downline controls and exports.

Know the Full-Service option before you click it. It makes HealthSherpa the agent of record in exchange for a payout.

Pros

  • Free for agents, paid for by carriers
  • Full EDE enrollment in HealthCare.gov states
  • Consent records with timestamps and PDF download
  • A branded client enrollment page with lead capture
  • Agency, downline and two-factor login controls
  • Doctor and drug search when comparing plans

Cons

  • Other state exchanges get quoting only, then a hand-off
  • Full-Service moves the client to HealthSherpa with no export
  • No CRM connection, only RetireFlo intake
  • ACA only, with no Medicare in this product
  • Appointments aren't checked, so unappointed carriers still appear

Full-Service payouts

  • A 2026 special enrollment period enrollment pays up to $50.
  • A 2026 open enrollment sale paid up to $100, plus up to $50 more if the policy lasted six months.
  • HealthSherpa must be the agent of record and the policy must be active.
  • Payouts can change.

Your agency can release you, and you keep your account and clients

Full-Service hands the client to HealthSherpa. HealthSherpa becomes the agent of record and keeps the relationship, and the account has no export. Use a standard agent account for clients you want to keep.

HealthSherpa checks your license through NIPR but not your appointments, so unappointed carriers still show up in results.

Corrections

Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan HealthSherpa for Agents quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where HealthSherpa for Agents has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
