PlanSource review for benefits brokers: pricing, carrier feeds and enrollment
PlanSource is benefits administration software for employers with 1,000 or more employees. It pairs enrollment and decision support with ACA, COBRA and billing work done by its own staff.
Brokers and resellers can sell it and keep the client. Pricing is by quote.

Our take
PlanSource suits a broker or reseller with large multi-state employers that need real-time carrier links. PlanSource says its APIs with Guardian, MetLife and other big carriers cut down on file errors.
Smaller groups are outside its stated focus. It has no quoting or proposal tools.
Pros
- Real-time enrollment APIs with eight named carriers
- ACA, COBRA and billing as services
- Resellers keep the client and run service
- SOC 2 and ISO 27001 audits
Cons
- Built for 1,000 or more employees
- No quoting or proposals
Who buys it and who pays
- Who buys it
- Employers, brokers, consultants, resellers, HR software makers and carriers
- Broker role
- Brokers often bring PlanSource in during an RFP or a platform switch
- Reseller model
- The reseller keeps the client, runs setup and handles service. PlanSource supplies the platform and back-office help
- Direct model
- Each client gets an account lead, analysts, an executive sponsor and ACA, COBRA and carrier specialists
Resellers can move a whole book. PlanSource says it supports onboarding one client or moving a reseller's full book of business.

Corrections
Vendors change their pricing all the time and they don't email us when they do. So if you see a price on here that's gone up, a plan PlanSource quit selling or a contract term that reads different now, let us know and send the link to the page where PlanSource has it. Somebody here pulls up that page and checks it before we change anything on ours.
